Existing Methods
Excluding imported steel and locally produced concrete the most common materials are wood and locally manufactured bricks. Both materials use huge reserves of forest. The brick manufacture requires clay to be fired in large open kilns (clamps) resulting in deforestation on a major scale.
Solution
Green Concrete Products Ltd have a patented concrete substitute that can be produced under licence in local regions. The Green Concrete solution requires no firing and little water. The concrete can be in brick size or in slab. Brick size allows for local construction without heavy equipment. A source of bauxite waste material in neighbouring Jamaica has been identified as the potential block material and discussions are underway with local agencies to explore the feasibility of production and transportation.

Having completed exhaustive trials using local clay the Green Concrete Products research lab has produced a concrete substitute that is stronger, lighter and more waterproof that any local building material presently available in central America. The concrete can be coloured at manufacture allowing architectural and design features to be introduced.
